How to talk to your partner about relationship problems
Honestly, about 90% of relationship problems are going to be rectified simply by talking to your partner. Many times they don’t even know they are doing something wrong! So, tell them. Let them know that you have an issue. The two of you will then be able to work through the problem.
You must remember that a relationship is about compromise. You can’t expect your partner to make all the changes in life while you do nothing. If you do not learn how to compromise, then your boyfriend girlfriend relationship problems will never be sorted out. In fact, if you do not learn how to compromise then the problems will end up becoming a whole lot worse before they become better (if they get better at all).
Now, there are times where you may not be able to work through an issue. It is up to you to decide on how you wish to proceed here. Say, for example, you can just ‘deal’ with the issue if it is something minor, then just accept it. You are not going to be able to agree with your partner 100% of the time. If something is a bit more serious, then you may wish to consider spending time apart. If you have been in a relationship for a while, however, you may want to consider other options.
Many people find that relationship counselling helps them out. Sometimes you need that ‘outside voice’ telling you how to work your way through problems. It is important to note that relationship counselling is not always going to work, but it is worth listening to what somebody else has to say.
When you are in relationship counselling, the counsellor will give both of you an opportunity to say what you need to say. They will ensure that there is no arguing and both of you are able to put your views forward. The counsellor will then be able to offer advice on how you can proceed with the situation.
Ask Friends and Family
You may even want to discuss your problems with your friends and family. Now, obviously, they are not going to be able to give you professional advice, but they may have gone through the same situations in the past. If they have, then you are going to be able to listen to their advice and see how you will be able to apply it to your own situation.
Remember; do not just call ‘quits’ on a relationship. Try and deal with your problems as best as you can.
